The motivating failure is that a single agent abandons up to half of hard tasks with a one-file stub-and-exit, while existing multi-agent systems either sequence agents through phase handoffs or pool independent samples with no coordination. Across five frontier coding-CLI models on four backend tasks with cross-language checks in Python DevBench and Rust+axum, two-agent AgentRoom abandons fewer tasks than solo runs with less run-to-run variation. The ablation is the useful part: coordination, not parallelism and not the CRDT merge itself, bears the load.
