AISI: New Mythos Checkpoint Completes 32-Step Corporate Network Attack — AI Cyber Capability Doubling Every ~4 Months

The UK AI Security Institute reports a newer Claude Mythos Preview checkpoint completed a simulated 32-step corporate network attack (estimated 20 hours for a human expert) in 6 of 10 attempts, and became the first AI model to crack an industrial control system simulation (3/10 attempts). AISI has revised its AI cyber capability doubling estimate from 8 months (November 2025) to 4.7 months (February 2026) to approximately 4 months now, consistent with METR's software engineering estimates of 4.2-month doubling.
