Fully Open Meditron: First End-to-End Auditable Pipeline for Clinical LLMs

Most 'open' medical LLMs are open-weight only — they release parameters while withholding data provenance, curation procedures, and generation pipelines. Fully Open Meditron is the first clinical LLM to expose the complete training stack end-to-end: data sources, curation logic, training code, and evaluation methodology. The paper argues that scrutable, auditable pipelines are prerequisites for clinical decision support systems, not optional transparency features.
