Nanocoder Ships at 1.9K Stars — Community-Built Local-First Coding Agent With Ollama and OpenRouter Support
Nanocoder is a local-first terminal coding agent from Nano-Collective that works with cloud providers today but is architected to make them optional. Available via npm, Homebrew, and Nix Flakes, it supports file operations, code modification, command execution, and debugging through a clean terminal interface. The long-term goal is running a capable coding agent entirely on local hardware — the project is actively developing architectures that help smaller models perform better at coding tasks.
