Pattern: Agent IDE Convergence — Cursor, Windsurf, and Claude Code All Ship Agent Teams With Worktree Isolation
All three leading AI coding environments now support multi-agent parallel execution with git worktree isolation: Claude Code has agent teams with worktree isolation since v2.1, Cursor 3.3 added Build in Parallel with async subagents, and Windsurf integrates Devin Cloud handoff with local-to-cloud agent delegation. The coordination primitives are converging: spec-driven decomposition, per-agent worktrees, automated quality gates, and sequential merge. The practical sweet spot remains 2-4 agents; above that, coordination overhead exceeds parallelism gains without a dedicated review layer.
