Do LLMs Favor Their Own Providers? Vertical Integration Bias Measured in Code Generation

Researchers measured whether frontier LLMs affiliated with specific cloud providers systematically recommend their provider's services in generated code. The study examines whether agentic coding tools produce code biased toward the LLM provider's own ecosystem — a question with real procurement and architecture implications as AI-generated code becomes the norm. First rigorous measurement of this suspected bias pattern.
