California's 30 AI Bills Clear Chamber of Origin Ahead of May 29 Crossover Deadline

Nearly all of California's 30 AI-related bills passed their chamber of origin before today's crossover deadline, including SB 813 (AI Standards and Safety Commission), SB 947 (worker protections for automated decision systems), SB 951 (90-day employer notice before AI displacement of 25%+ of workforce), and AB 2023/SB 1119 (companion chatbot safety bills protecting children). Bills now cross to the second house on June 1, with the session's final stretch running through August 31. California is positioning itself as the de facto lead US regulator of AI at the state level.
