Figma Launches Native AI Design Agent in Beta — Partners with Anthropic and OpenAI for Claude Code and Codex Integration
Figma began rolling out its AI design agent on May 20 to Professional, Organization, and Enterprise plan users. The agent lives in the left rail as a native canvas element (not a chatbox), letting designers use natural language to generate, edit, and automate design tasks — including running multiple agents simultaneously. Figma struck partnerships with Anthropic (Claude Code) and OpenAI (Codex) for companion coding integration. The agent is free during beta with no AI credit consumption. This is Figma's biggest feature launch since FigJam and directly counters Canva AI 2.0 (April 16) and Claude Design (April 17).
