Exposing the Illusion of Erasure in Knowledge Editing for LLMs

Knowledge Editing promises to update or remove specific facts in an LLM without full retraining, but this work demonstrates that apparent 'erasure' is often an illusion — the edited information remains recoverable, and reliability is weaker than claimed. A practical warning for teams using knowledge-editing techniques for compliance, privacy, or fact correction: deletion may not be deletion.
