LTM Reconstructs Wildfire-Prone Terrain Without Expensive Airborne LiDAR
Accurate 3D terrain maps drive emergency wildfire response, but airborne LiDAR is expensive and infrequently updated, while image-based reconstruction struggles across vast regions with sparse visual features and limited image overlap. LTM (arXiv 2607.08711, July 9) proposes a multi-modal reconstruction framework that combines the available signals to build large-scale terrain models for exactly these low-texture, low-overlap conditions. Single-source paper with no released benchmark comparison yet, so treat the accuracy claims as preliminary.
