Throw away your pilot migration — its only product is better rules
Step 2 of Anthropic's migration playbook is a mini-migration across 3 sample files using several competing translation approaches, then discarding all the translated output. The point is to compare approaches and refine translation policy before committing thousands of files, not to bank incremental progress. This inverts the usual instinct to keep whatever compiles, and it is the cheapest place to catch an idiom-mapping mistake that would otherwise replicate across the whole codebase.
