Dell Technologies Capital's Daniel Docter: AI Won't Kill SaaS, It Turns Recurring Revenue Into 'Re-Occurring' Revenue
In a July 21 Crunchbase News interview, Docter argues incumbents survive on brand, incumbency and acquisition capacity (naming Salesforce, Intuit, Oracle), and predicts SaaS buyers enter acquisition mode to import AI faster than they can build it. His sharpest framing is a revenue-model distinction: multiyear contracted recurring revenue gives way to 'reoccurring' revenue — uncontracted, project-shaped deals customers return to repeatedly. That's a materially different forecast than outcome-based pricing, and it changes what NRR even means.
