Black Forest Labs (primary announcement)·high signal
FLUX 3 entered early access July 23 as a multimodal foundation model trained jointly on images, video and audio in one architecture using BFL's Self-Flow approach — a departure from the single-modality FLUX 2 line. In head-to-head preference testing BFL reports FLUX 3 video was preferred over Runway Gen-4.5 in 77% of comparisons and over Luma Ray 3.2 in 93%. The phased rollout covers FLUX 3 Video, Image, Action, and critically FLUX 3 Dev, which BFL says will give open-weight access to the multimodal backbone; it hit #3 on Hacker News with 446 points.
