Codex v26.715 (2026-07-23) introduced multi-folder local projects where one folder is designated primary for chats and Git operations while secondary folders stay available for file search, reading, and editing. The same release added GPT-Live voice mode on desktop and a macOS screen-context option that shares an appshot of your frontmost window. The primary/secondary split solves a real polyrepo pain: you get read access across service boundaries for context without the agent ambiguously committing into the wrong repo, which is the usual failure when you just open a parent directory.
