JAMS Ships an MCP Server for Enterprise Job Scheduling — Free, Local-Model Capable, and Deliberately Read-Mostly
JAMS Software announced GA on July 24 of JAX (an agent inside the JAMS Web Client) and JAMS MCP (a connector exposing JAMS to Cursor, VS Code with Copilot, Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Codex), both at no separate license, SKU or cost. The security model is the interesting part for builders: both act as the signed-in user with that user's exact permissions, there is 'no elevated AI account,' every operation lands in a dedicated log and the JAMS audit trail, JAX does not learn between sessions, and neither feature can edit or delete a job, folder, schedule or agent definition in this release — with an option to run JAX entirely on a local model inside the customer network. It is a template for how legacy infra vendors can become agent-addressable without becoming an exfiltration path.
