Beneath the headline repos sits a cluster of tiny, near-identical libraries: zendev-sh/goai (171 stars, 21+ providers, stdlib-only Go), juspay/neurolink (116, 24+ providers with MCP, TTS/STT, RAG and memory), jakobhoeg/browser-ai (182, in-browser model providers), jagreehal/ai-sdk-ollama (128), and vercel-labs/github-tools (109, GitHub's API wrapped as AI SDK tools). Every one of them exists because swapping model providers still requires a rewrite. That five independent teams shipped the same abstraction simultaneously is a stronger signal about missing standardization than any single project's traction.
