Enigma Emerges From Stealth With a $71M Seed and Puts Live Robots on the Public Internet
Israeli robotics startup Enigma announced a $71 million seed on July 27 led by Index Ventures and Ribbit Capital with Sarah Guo's Conviction participating — an unusually large seed for a company founded less than a year ago by Jonathan Jacobi (Microsoft's youngest-ever employee) and Gal Niv, both Unit 8200 alumni. Rather than a demo reel, Enigma launched robots.online, where anyone can control real robots in hangars in Israel and California in real time — drawing with a paintbrush, sword-fighting each other, mixing flasks in simple chemistry experiments. The bet is hardware-agnostic foundation models plus interfaces simple enough that controlling a robot feels like adjusting volume.
