Lianlian DigiTech and UnionPay International put human-in-the-loop agents into cross-border B2B procurement

Announced July 27, the two firms are embedding AI-agent functions across the procurement workflow — supplier matching, product selection, and payment execution — on top of UnionPay's global network, with the first rollout explicitly human-in-the-loop. Initial focus areas are global procurement and 'AI token replenishment,' with the broader agreement (signed July 18) also covering overseas merchant acceptance and joint R&D. This is the second agent-payments framework in a week aimed at B2B cross-border settlement, and both keep a human approval step at the money-movement boundary rather than granting agents autonomous spend.
