Fish Audio Raised $52M Seed at $21M ARR After One Year, Built From an Open-Source Repo With 31K Stars
Fish Audio announced a $52 million seed on July 28 led by Coreline Ventures and Capital Today, with 359 Capital, HF0, 645 Ventures and others. On its first anniversary it reports $21 million ARR and 8 million users. The origin is the pattern worth noting: co-founder and chief scientist Shijia Liao, a former NVIDIA video researcher, trained the initial models on a single gaming GPU, and the resulting open-source project Fish Speech passed 31,000 GitHub stars before the company existed. Models cover 83-plus languages and can be self-hosted, which is the explicit wedge against ElevenLabs and Cartesia for teams that will not send voice data to a closed API.
