Palantir's Alex Karp Attacks Anthropic's Open-Weights Position: 'If You Want to Win, You Have to Compete on the Battlefield'
Anthropic remains the only leading frontier lab that has not signed the Open Secure AI Alliance letter backed by Meta, Nvidia, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and SpaceX. On July 28 Palantir CEO Alex Karp took the argument to Anthropic directly with 'if you want to win, you have to compete on the battlefield' and 'our job has to be to have the best AI in the world.' Amodei's counter is that Anthropic never sought a ban and would instead restrict advanced chips to authoritarian governments, crack down on industrial-scale distillation, and require safety testing of all sufficiently capable models, open and closed.
