Empirical Study of 586 Solana Bot Repos and 44 Million On-Chain Transactions Yields a 15-Category Taxonomy

This study (arXiv 2607.28424, July 30) links GitHub blueprints to on-chain fingerprints for Solana bots, which drove over $250 million in daily DEX trading volume in January 2026. Combining 586 bot repositories with 200 bot addresses covering more than 44 million on-chain transactions, the authors derive an implementation-grounded taxonomy of 15 categories across five domains including Trading Operations, MEV, and On-chain Analytics, and identify a largely shared five-stage operational pipeline across implementations. They also document systematic variation in trading behavior across platforms and assets — useful groundwork for anyone building on-chain bot detection rather than trading bots.
