Per AWS's own documentation, the agent product Amazon launched in November 2023 entered maintenance mode on July 30, 2026: no new customers, and the model catalog is frozen as of that date, so every model released after July 30 is AgentCore-only. Existing allowlisted accounts keep access with no EOL announced, and AWS recommends migrating workloads to AgentCore. For builders this is a hard fork in the road — a three-year-old managed-agent abstraction is now a legacy tier, and anyone who standardized on it inherits a migration they did not schedule.
