Crunchbase Analyzed ~800 Global $5M-$10M Seed Rounds — the Clusters Are Proptech, Oncology, Space and Robotics, Not AI SaaS
Crunchbase News's July 31 analysis of roughly 800 global seed financings in the $5M-$10M band found the concentrations in proptech (15 named companies incl. Hint, Optiml, Krane), cancer therapeutics (three California startups each at $10M: Rybodyn, Vivere Oncotherapies, Valius Sciences), space and satellite tech (9, led by Lux Aeterna) and robotics (18, incl. Somnia Lab, Bubble Robotics). Notably absent as a named cluster: horizontal AI application software. Real-estate and construction venture totaled just over $10B last year, well below prior peaks. The read for builders: at the seed band where a solo founder can raise, capital is rotating toward atoms and biology precisely because AI made the software layer cheap enough to not need $8M.
