Copilot Cloud Agent Adds a Per-Task Reasoning Level Selector
As of 2026-08-03 you can pick a reasoning level alongside the model when starting a Copilot cloud agent task, for models that support it. GitHub's stated tradeoff is blunt: a higher level can improve answers to complex problems but consumes more tokens and therefore more credits. This is the same effort-tuning knob Claude Code exposes via `effort:` — the pattern of exposing reasoning depth as a per-task dial rather than a model choice is now standard across the two largest coding-agent platforms.
