GitHub Kills Spark: No New Apps as of August 4, Export Deadline August 31

GitHub published a deprecation notice on 2026-08-04 stating Spark stops accepting new users and new app creation that same day, with existing users given until 2026-08-31 to export app code via the workbench (··· → Create repository). Apps already deployed keep running, but anything calling the `llm()` function is already broken because GitHub Models — Spark's inference backend — retired on 2026-07-30, forcing developers to swap in their own provider and API key. GitHub's stated rationale is that builders have moved to integrated workflows in Copilot for VS Code, Copilot CLI, and the GitHub Copilot app.
