On 2026-08-05 the Metro Council passed condemnation legislation on third and final reading, authorizing city attorneys to take the property at 648 Grassmere Park where DC Blox plans a 10-megawatt data center next to the Nashville Zoo. DC Blox bought the land for about $23 million; Metro would likely owe at least $37 million, and the city's stated use is offices, warehouse space and employee training. In late July the council also passed new data center zoning restrictions and a permit moratorium running through December 1. 258 points and 310 comments on HN.
