Google joins the Agent Plugins TSC as a Core Maintainer and ships Agents CLI and Data Agent Kit in the format
On August 6 Google announced it is joining the Agent Plugins Technical Steering Committee alongside Amazon, Cursor, Microsoft, OpenAI and Vercel, represented by Kevin Hou, Senior Staff Engineer at Google DeepMind. Two products support the format immediately: Agents CLI, which packages Google's own skills for agent building, evaluation, deployment, observability and publishing, and Data Agent Kit, a plugin collection wiring BigQuery, Spanner and Cloud SQL into any compatible client. Both work across Antigravity, Gemini CLI, Claude Code and Cursor — notably, Google framing its own agent skills as distributable 'in a format that isn't ours alone' is the signal that packaging has stopped being a differentiation surface.
