Tip: Auto Mode No Longer Burns Its Consecutive-Block Budget on Its Own Safety-Filter Refusals
Claude Code 2.1.225 fixed auto mode counting a safety-filter refusal of its *own* permission check toward the consecutive-block limit. The action is still denied, but the model is now told to move on rather than retry — previously a few self-refusals in a row could exhaust the block budget and halt an otherwise healthy autonomous run. If you have long unattended sessions that mysteriously stopped after a handful of denied actions rather than completing, this was a plausible cause and it is worth re-running the workload on 2.1.225+ before redesigning your permission config around it.
