Atlassian Deleted Loom's Free Creator Lite Seats — Converting 90 Watchers Per 10 Recorders Into Paid Seats
Atlassian eliminated Loom's free 'Creator Lite' role, which let employees inside a paid workspace watch, comment, and record at no cost, auto-converting those users to paid Creator seats at $15–$24/seat/month ($180–$288/year). A workspace with 10 recorders and 90 watchers goes from paying for 10 seats to 100. SaaStr's argument is that Atlassian converted a distribution asset into a revenue asset 26 months after the ~$975M acquisition — Loom reached 25M users and ~5M business videos/month on the back of free viewer seats, and rational admins will now deactivate the 90 rather than pay, pushing viewing toward Figma and Miro which still keep free viewer tiers.
