Linux 7.2's release-candidate surge comes from AI tools that scan existing kernel code and file reports, while humans still triage every finding and kernel policy requires a person to review and sign off on any AI-assisted contribution. Torvalds framed the tradeoff bluntly — "Linux is not one of those anti-AI projects" — while conceding he's unhappy with the volume.
