Spotify Opened Xirp to Public Beta — an Incumbent Shipping the Meta-Harness Layer Above Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI
On August 10 Spotify's Portal team published Xirp, a vendor-neutral agentic development environment that manages concurrent sessions across Claude Code, Gemini CLI and Codex, with each session in its own git worktree so dozens of agents work the same codebase without collision. Spotify says thousands of its own engineers adopted it organically across more than 36,000 sessions, and that context is decoupled from any single harness so working state survives a mid-project tool switch; paired with Spotify Portal it pulls component architecture, dependency graphs, ownership topology and ADRs into every session start. It debuted at #4 on Product Hunt on August 11 with 116 upvotes — notable because the coding-agent harness layer had been indie territory until a major consumer incumbent shipped a free-trial product into it.
