Ilya Sutskever's SSI Has Roughly Two Weeks Left on Its Reported August Model Deadline — and Has Still Published Nothing Confirming It
Investor Gavin Baker said on the Invest Like the Best podcast that 'SSI says that they'll come out with their model in August,' and an August 14 analysis tallies what is riding on it: roughly $8B raised across three rounds, a $32B valuation, a $5B NVIDIA strategic investment closed July 27, 2026, and about 50 employees — around $160M of capital per head. SSI has published no papers, models or public demos in the two years since its June 2024 founding, the longest pre-release silence among major labs. As of that reporting SSI itself has confirmed nothing on its own site, so this remains a second-hand timeline; Manifold traders put the odds of SSI shipping a product before achieving superintelligence at 82%.
