Cursor launches Origin, its own code hosting platform, putting repos, PRs and agents in one place
Origin began rolling out August 17 in early beta on all paid Cursor plans, offering repo hosting with bidirectional real-time PR comment sync against GitHub (which remains source of truth for synced repos) plus native app integrations with Vercel, Depot and Buildkite. The pitch is that you can ask Cursor about code you're browsing and it will answer, make changes, update the PR, or push a branch — though Cursor explicitly says the deeper agent-native features are still coming. Timing is conspicuous: it landed the same week GitHub had a major outage that itself degraded Origin, and HN's front page carried both 'Ask HN: Alternatives to GitHub' (609 points) and the Origin launch simultaneously.
