CopilotKit Ships OpenBot: 1,089 Stars in Three Days for AG-UI Agents That Each Get Their Own Browser and Files

CopilotKit/openbot launched 2026-08-17 as MIT-licensed alpha and has 1,089 stars, 108 forks and 28 open issues within three days. Each 'coworker' gets a real browser with its own logins, its own files and only granted tools, with every action decided before it happens and recorded after; the whole stack runs on Docker Compose against your own PostgreSQL, no model ships in the box, and the admin-supplied credential is encrypted at rest. It takes any AG-UI agent, and agents are configuration (agents.yaml) rather than code. A commit merged at 02:19 UTC today reverts two features that only worked on one machine, which is a fair marker of how early this is.
