Dario Amodei publicly argues Gavin Baker's 'regulate or distribute' choice is false, and concedes AI companies have not delivered
Across a multi-day X exchange, Amodei answered Baker's All-In claim that he has 'lost the argument' on regulation by saying the framing of concentrate-via-regulation versus distribute-without-it is a false choice, and that outside Silicon Valley most people read regulation as a constraint on corporate power rather than regulatory capture. He rejected the charge that his messaging is disproportionately negative, calling it 'about equally balanced between risks and benefits.' The notable concession is his own statement that the fairest criticism of AI labs is that they have not yet delivered the promised benefits, and that 'the thing that will work is actually curing cancer.'
