At the second World Humanoid Robot Games, held 2026-08-22 through 2026-08-26 at Beijing's National Speed Skating Oval with 666 teams and 2,056 robots from 16 countries, the Tiangong robot clocked 38.15 seconds in the 400m, well under the 43.03-second human world record Wayde van Niekerk set at Rio 2016. Xinhua also reports Tiangong Ultra ran a 9.39-second 100m preliminary heat against Bolt's 9.58. Commenters noted the run was in lane 6, meaning the robot held a curve at speed, and that these competition robots are specialized for athletics the way blade prosthetics are, not general-purpose humanoids.
