CROSS-CATEGORY: Four Launches in 48 Hours Priced as One-Time Perpetual Licenses Instead of Subscriptions
Bumply (Product Hunt #8, Aug 24) sells a perpetual license at $24.99 one-time covering three Macs with 12 months of updates and optional renewal; Localdock (#10) charges $9 one-time; Histiq (Show HN, Aug 23) offers $6.99/mo, $49.99/yr and a $129 lifetime tier; and the Outbid directory boilerplate sells at $29 one-time with no subscription. These span devtools, local hosting, browser utilities and marketing directories, and each one names a subscription incumbent as its foil (Bumply vs npm tooling, Localdock vs ngrok, Histiq vs Rewind.ai). For builders shipping small tools, the one-time price is now a positioning move against SaaS, not just a pricing detail.
