In an interview published August 25, Nadella said 'any firm that doesn't have this control, I will claim, will not remain a firm because you've essentially outsourced your thinking,' and framed the fix as keeping knowledge inside the company: 'I am a firm that creates knowledge, and I need that knowledge to stay inside the firm.' He tied it to model portability, 'any one model can go away and you can still continue to be in sort of control of your own destiny,' which doubles as the pitch for Microsoft 365 Copilot letting customers route to OpenAI or Claude. For builders the practical read is that the CEO of the largest AI reseller is publicly arguing against single-vendor lock-in on the model layer.
