Armin Ronacher on why anger at AI is misdirected: 'anger needs to be directed somewhere' and there is no villain
In 'Anger, Anxiety and Agency,' published August 24, Ronacher argues the emotions he'd expect in tech right now are disorientation and anxiety, not anger, because anger implies somebody is doing something to you and AI disruption is hitting owners and managers too. He describes leaders standing 'somewhere with a megaphone' projecting confidence they don't privately have, which makes them a convenient but wrong target. His prescription is a sequence: be curious about what's changing, experiment with it, and only then 'earn the right to decide when resistance is warranted.'
