Headlong Is a 10K-Line Bash Agent Harness Where the Agent Never Stops Thinking
Laude and MIT released Headlong on 2026-08-24, an open source microharness built around persistent agency: the agent runs a self-guided thought loop with no task boundary, and a human message arrives as one more observation in the stream rather than starting a session. There are no per-user sessions, so one agent shared across a team sees every conversation in a single timeline. Laude reports their agent Audel reviewed two teammates' in-progress branches unprompted and caught a hardcoded model name, and also warns it is bad at keeping secrets across conversations and should be run sandboxed on a spend-capped key.
