PicoMQ hit the HN front page Aug 24 with 138 points, offering durable real-time streams over plain HTTP built on S3-compatible object storage, with independently scalable streams rather than a topic-partition model and no persistent local disk on the compute tier. It is Apache 2.0 with a public repo. The product page does not publish pricing, which is the tell that the commercial model is still open, and the interesting question for builders is what a hosted Kafka or SQS bill looks like once the storage tier is just a bucket you already pay for.
