Z.ai confirms the anonymous Ox Alpha topping OpenRouter is a GLM model and says it will release the weights tonight
Ox Alpha appeared over the weekend as an uncredited listing on OpenRouter, became the biggest launch in that marketplace's history and more than doubled DeepSeek's usage, with nobody knowing who built it. On 2026-08-26 Z.ai (Zhipu) told Bloomberg it is a new GLM-series iteration and that the weights ship that night. OpenRouter's own /api/v1/models endpoint lists it as `stealth/ox-alpha` with a 1,048,576-token context and prompt and completion pricing both at zero, described as a reasoning model for coding and sustained agentic work accepting text, image and video.
