Perplexity ships Portable Computer, running orchestrator, planner and tool router locally on a DGX Spark with no per-token cost
Perplexity launched Portable Computer on 2026-08-26, moving the orchestrator LLM, subagent LLM, planner, tool router, scheduler and local search index onto the user's machine, with work completed locally consuming no billing credits and each cloud escalation requiring separate approval. The launch platform is Nvidia's DGX Spark (GB10, 128GB unified memory); other Linux machines need an Nvidia RTX GPU with at least 24GB VRAM, roughly a 3090 or newer. It ships with Qwen 3.8 27B and PPLX 27B plus Google Drive, Gmail and GitHub connectors. Linux first for Pro, Max and Enterprise subscribers, Windows in September 2026, and macOS is not on the roadmap.
