Altman Told TIME OpenAI Will Have an Internal System It Calls AGI by the End of 2026, and Named Astra as the Model Family

Chief Research Officer Mark Chen put the company at '80% of the way,' and chief scientist Jakub Pachocki told TIME that the upcoming Astra family already clears the internal bar by writing experiment code in OpenAI's own codebase, running it, and reporting results.
