tare does quota forensics on Claude Code logs and finds the cost is re-sent context, not new work
kelviq/tare reached 82 points on Show HN under the title 'My Claude quota ran out in 10 minutes, so I made a tool to find out why', at 98 stars and MIT-licensed with no tagged releases yet. It reads only the local Claude Code session logs, deduplicates repeated API responses that inflate naive totals, attributes cost to files read early and then re-sent every turn, and detects signatures of scripts spawning parallel sessions versus manual work. Its stated conclusion is that most of a session's cost is the container, not the turn.
