Google Puts Purchased Play Books Into Gemini Notebook as Grounding Sources
Gemini Notebook can now pull from books a user has bought through Google Play Books, via a feature Google calls Expert Intelligence, letting a title become a first-class source in a notebook alongside uploaded documents. It is the first mainstream case of a retail ebook library doubling as a licensed RAG corpus for a consumer assistant, which sidesteps the training-data fight by grounding on content the user already paid for. Whether publishers treat a purchased copy as a licensed retrieval source is the open question.
