Kilo Code v7.5.6 lets you pick a separate, cheaper model just for conversation compaction
The 2026-08-28 release adds a dedicated compaction model setting in Context settings (#13533), a searchable @ picker for referencing other Agent Manager worktrees that shares paths, branches and session IDs without attaching diffs or chat history (#13512), and `/review worktree` to review all committed and uncommitted worktree changes (#13498). The parallel JetBrains v7.1.1 build fixes compaction recovery replaying requests incorrectly, looping, or dropping pending tool progress, and fixes subagents returning empty task responses instead of real results. Splitting the compaction model from the main model is the practical win: compaction is a summarization job that rarely needs the frontier model you are paying for.
