Chinese makers shipped 86% of the world's humanoid robots in H1 2026 as US tariffs arrive in September
Global humanoid shipments hit 22,000 units in the first half of 2026, and the top five vendors, AgiBot, Unitree, Galbot, UBTECH and Leju Robotics, all Chinese, accounted for 86% of them. Washington tightened restrictions on foreign advanced robotics through July and August and expanded the FCC's 2021 Covered List beyond telecom gear to drones and robots; drone tariffs take effect in September with component tariffs following in 2027. One analyst's line is the whole argument: "You cannot sanction your way around a cost curve. You can only out-build it, and America has yet to begin making the decade-long investment that will require."
