CrabOS Makes the Work State a Shared Text Object So Humans and Agents Can Take Turns Without Screenshot Handoffs
CrabOS (arXiv 2608.28165, 2026-08-28, cs.AI/cs.HC/cs.OS) targets the handoff problem in long-running agents: today humans and AI get separate work environments, so continuing a task means either building a task-specific interface to expose the work state or manually shuttling it through screenshots and text descriptions. CrabOS represents the work state as natural-language-readable text objects that both humans and agents read and manipulate through the same auditable interface, no bridge required. Case studies argue this moves support for alternating-leadership tasks from application-level workarounds to a native operating-system capability.
