OpenClaw 2.0 shipped 16,000 merged PRs from 933 contributors, about half of every PR in the project's history
OpenClaw tagged v2026.8.1 on August 31 and named it 2.0 after nearly seven weeks without a release, crediting 933 contributors including 569 first-timers. The headline feature is shared cloud sessions, which let a teammate join a running agent session mid-task without losing accumulated context; the team says it now builds OpenClaw this way. Three migrations bite on upgrade: session storage moves to SQLite, the bundled OpenProse plugin is removed, and codex/ model routes are renamed to openai/.
